Cover of LRGWPE This 2022 Edition of the  Lamorinda Residents Guide to Wildfire Preparedness and Evacuation was written by the Lafayette Emergency Preparedness Commission and is being distributed to every postal address in Lamorinda by a consortium of City of Lafayette, Town of Moraga, City of Orinda, Moraga-Orinda Fire District, Contra County County Fire Protection District and Lamorinda Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

City of Lafayette, Contra Costa County Lafayette is located on 15 square miles in Contra Costa County, one of nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area. The City was incorporated in 1968, although settlement of the area began in 1848. Lafayette is noted for its high quality of life with top rated schools, low crime rate, small town downtown, clean air, mild climate and oak tree-studded hills.
 City of Moraga, Contra Costa County Moraga is a suburban incorporated town located in Contra Costa County, California, in the San Francisco East Bay Area. It is named in honor of Joaquin Moraga, whose grandfather was José Joaquin Moraga, second in command to Juan Bautista de Anza. As of the 2000 census, Moraga was the 79th wealthiest place in the US with a population above 10,000. It is home of Saint Marys College of California, a Catholic university.
City of Orinda, Contra Costa County The City of Orinda is a family-oriented community in a semi-rural valley on the east side of the Oakland/Berkeley hills in the San Francisco Bay Area. It offers its 17,500 residents a serene setting in contrast to the more urban existence of the surrounding area. Orinda is situated immediately east of the Caldecott Tunnel on Highway 24 and is served by a Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) station. The tree-studded hillsides of the 12.8 square-mile City contribute to the aesthetic beauty of this community.
Moraga-Orinda Fire District

The Moraga-Orinda Fire District is responsible for fire protection and ambulance services in the Moraga, Orinda and Canyon areas.

 

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Contra Costa County Fire Protection District covers the north central part of Contra Costa County including Lafayette.
Contra Costa Community Warning System

Contra Costa Community Warning System CWS can alert residents and businesses within Contra Costa County that are impacted by, or are in danger of being impacted by an emergency. Click to register your cell phone or your VoIP (Internet connected) phone.

Contra Costa County Cities Citizen Corps / CERT Committee Contra Costa CERT Coalition, “C4″ is the committee formed by and for all Citizen Corps/CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) program managers and coordinators in Contra Costa County. The primary goals of the committee are to promote the development, coordination, and advancement of all CERT programs in our area.
Contra Costa County MRC Contra Costa County MRC The Medical Reserve Corps is a team of community volunteers trained to respond to and assist with medical and public health emergencies.
 Sustainable Lafayette

 American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter The American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter serves more than 4.5 million people in Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo and Solano counties.
 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration produces daily fire weather forecasts and issues Fire Weather Watches and Red Flag Warnings.
 NFPA's Firewise USA® NFPA’s Firewise USA® program teaches people how to adapt to living with wildfire and encourages neighbors to work together and take action now to prevent losses.
